2021 Spring Season Update

Citrus Little League Families,

We hope that this message finds your family healthy and safe. We are excited to share with you more details about our Spring 2021 baseball season. Youth sport guidelines recently published by the State of California allow players to practice, train, and condition. As a result, Citrus will assign players to teams at the close of registration, and teams can begin practicing in early February when the City of Rancho Cucamonga releases the baseball fields to the league. While teams will be permitted to begin practice in February, teams will be restricted from playing games or scrimmages.

While we are disappointed that games are not allowed under current guidelines, we also understand that this past year has been a challenging and lonely year for some of our players. For this reason, we are encouraged that players can return to the baseball field and continue to develop their baseball skills with friends. If County or State guidelines change, we are prepared to pivot our season to include games. We acknowledge that it is possible that we could play a full schedule of games, a short season of games or that we may only practice for the entire season. There is so much that is unknown. Above all, we appreciate your patience and understanding as we navigate through this season.

Included below are important details regarding the Spring 2021 season:

  • Players can practice, train & condition under current State guidelines
  • Practices will begin in February when baseball fields are released to Citrus by the City of Rancho Cucamonga
  • Practice schedules will be determined and distributed by each Team Manager
  • Game schedules will be provided once we have authorization to play games (games not currently allowed)
  • Teams will be limited to 12 players per team
  • Annual spring clinics, tryouts and player drafts will not take place this year
  • Snack bar will be open and will follow CDC guidelines

Fundraising continues to be a critical part of supporting our league. The board is considering different options for our annual fundraiser and details will be shared once more information becomes available.

In the coming weeks, we will be sending out a communication regarding how we can all help to protect the health of our players and volunteers. We are looking forward to working together to make this a safe and rewarding season for our players. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Desarae Lopez at [email protected]

Sincerely,

Citrus Little League Spring 2021

The Citrus Little League Spring 2021 Little League Baseball season provides a range of offerings for players of all ages. Our aim is to positively instill the ideals of good sportsmanship, honesty, loyalty, courage, hard work and respect for authority within the children of the community. In doing so, we hope that they may be well adjusted, strong, and happy children who will grow to be good, decent, healthy, productive and trustworthy members of our society.

Citrus Little League is planning for a return to a traditional Spring Little League Baseball season in 2021 to include pre-season clinics, tryouts & player drafts (ages 7 and up), team practices, team uniforms and competitive games. However, Citrus LL understands that a Spring Baseball season may be modified by State and local health requirements. These requirements may likely limit the number of players that can be on the fields at one time, therefore making the competitive game portion and other aspects of our season not possible.

In response to this reality, Citrus LL has reduced the initial registration fee and as such this reduced fee is non-refundable. At such time that we are allowed, by State and local health officials, to include the competitive game portion of our season, an additional registration fee will be required ($50 for T-Ball, $60 for the Rookie, Minor and Major Divisions and $70 for the Junior and Senior Divisions).
